The MAS hosts The Rubens House Antwerp

2018 is the perfect year to plan a trip to Antwerp. The Rubens House is organising the first retrospective exhibition devoted to Michaelina Wautier (1604-1689). Given that women were only allowed to attend the Academy towards the end of the 19th century, and even then they had separate classes and could only paint 'naked models' that wore tights, Wautier was certainly a force to be reckoned with. This lady was already painting in the 17th century, and she mainly painted naked men! There are 26 paintings attributed to her and she most certainly demonstrated she had equal if not more skill than the male contemporaries of her time. From June 1st untill September 2nd 2018 the MAS hosts the Rubens House with Baroque's leading lady.

I would like to show you many more stunning things.

Join me on the rest of this journey.

Glad I could inspire you.

My colleagues have plenty more to tell you.
