World début for Bernard van Orley

Bozar Brussels

Bernard van Orley was one of the central figures of artistic life in Brussels and the Southern Netherlands in the first half of the 16th century. As a court painter for Margaret of Austria and, in later years, Mary of Hungary, he was commissioned to produce important works. He not only created religious works and portraits, but also designed tapestries and stained glass windows. At a young age, he became a master in one the greatest artist's guilds of his time.

Surprisingly, this is the first time that such a wide range of Bernard van Orley's work is being exhibited to the public. The varied nature of this exhibition makes it an absolute must-see. A visit to this exhibition means an introduction to beautiful paintings, tapestries and drawings. At the end of your visit, you'll understand that, aside from being a respected artist, Van Orley also had a significant influence on his contemporaries.
